Updated 24 September 2026 Prices checked on 23 September 2026 How we test

In short

  • The cheapest reports we found are Automano at EUR 7.90 and Carlytics at EUR 8.90. Neither is in our tested ranking; what follows is from their own product pages.
  • Both leave out records that cost the most to buy: photos of the car and the full factory equipment list, and at Automano also damage records and a theft check.
  • MrVIN, our No.1, includes all of them: damage records with photos, local mileage and inspection readings, a theft check, service history and the full factory equipment list.
  • Before you pay any service, look at what a full report contains. MrVIN publishes a sample report.

What a report under EUR 10 contains

Automano and Carlytics both publish honest prices, one payment and no subscription, and both are cheaper than any report in our ranking. The lower price comes from leaving out the records a service pays the most for. By their own product pages, checked on the date above:

What the lower price leaves out

These are the records that decide whether a used car is worth its price, and the ones a report under EUR 10 is missing some or all of:

What our No.1 includes

A MrVIN report includes all of them: damage records with photos, local mileage and inspection readings, a theft check, service history and the full factory equipment list. It costs more than a report under EUR 10, and in our ranking that is what the extra money buys.

No report can show a record that was never made, so look before you pay. MrVIN shows a free preview of what it found for your car, and its sample report shows everything a full report contains.

The price of one report in our ranking

Prices are for one report at the services we test, checked on the date above. VAT is included where the provider includes it. Automano and Carlytics are not in this table because we have not tested them.

Questions people ask

What is the cheapest VIN check in Europe?

The cheapest reports we found are Automano at EUR 7.90 and Carlytics at EUR 8.90, both one payment with no subscription. Both leave out photos and the full factory equipment list, and Automano also leaves out damage records and a theft check.

Is a VIN report under EUR 10 worth it?

For confirming the basics of a car you already trust, it can be. For a car where the risk is hidden damage or a rolled back odometer, the records it leaves out are the ones you need, and a full report is the better buy.

What should a full VIN report include?

Damage records with photos, mileage and inspection readings from the countries the car was registered in, a theft check, service history and the factory equipment list. MrVIN's sample report shows all of them.
