About Cookies

Effective from 15 September 2026

This page lists the cookies and similar markers that bestvinreport.com relies on, and shows how to clear the one that is optional. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice.

Why a comparison site needs them

Cookies are tiny files a website keeps in your browser. On a site like ours they do two jobs: hold the pages together as you move around, and let us tell which visits — and which purchases — started here, so the referral is credited to us.

What gets stored

Keeping the site usable

A handful of essential markers are needed for the site to load properly and to remember the language you picked. They carry no tracking value and stay switched on.

Counting visits

We use PostHog to count visits and see which comparisons get read. It is set up without cookies and without local storage, so it leaves nothing behind on your device between pages.

Watching where a page confuses people

The same tool records how a page is scrolled and clicked, so we can see where a comparison is hard to follow. Anything typed into a field is hidden before the recording leaves your browser, and the recording is not linked to a name, an email address or an account.

Crediting referrals and adverts

A first-party cookie called bvr_gclid holds a Google click identifier for around 90 days, so a referral can be traced back to the advert or source that produced it. When you leave for a provider, that identifier may be added to the link.

Clearing the optional one

The referral cookie is the only non-essential marker this site sets, and your browser can block or clear it whenever you want. Nothing about the comparisons or the rankings changes if you do. The only thing lost is our ability to tell that a visit started here.
