What we collect
Privacy Notice
Effective from 9 June 2026
BestVinReport is a comparison site. We review vehicle history report providers, rank them and point you towards them — and if you buy after following one of our links, that provider pays us a commission. We do not sell reports, we do not ask you to register, and no payment ever passes through this site. Because of that, the amount of personal information involved here is small. This notice explains it.
In a nutshell
- No account, no checkout and no card details on this site.
- We see ordinary visit data and use it for analytics.
- When you head to a provider, we tag the link so the referral is credited to us.
- You can switch analytics and advertising off whenever you like.
Information we come into contact with
We do not hand you forms to fill in or ask for personal details. What does pass through is the everyday data any website receives: the network address your device connects from, the browser and operating system you are using, the pages you open, and the link that sent you our way. Our analytics and advertising tools may also read or set identifiers kept on your device.
Following a referral to a provider
Because we are paid on referrals, we need to know which visits started with us. To do that we keep a Google click identifier (the "gclid") in a cookie named bvr_gclid for roughly three months, and when you click through to a provider we attach that identifier — plus a short tag marking the visit as ours — to the outgoing link. This exists only to credit the referral; it never changes the price you are shown.
What the data is used for
- Running the site and keeping it secure.
- Understanding which comparisons people find useful, through Google Analytics.
- Measuring our adverts and crediting referrals, through the Meta and Pinterest tags and the click identifier above.
Analytics and advertising run only where you have agreed to them. Anything strictly needed to serve the page runs either way.
Tools and partners that see it
We are not in the business of selling personal data. The limited information above is handled by the services that make the site work — chiefly Google for analytics, Meta and Pinterest for advertising measurement, and our hosting and content-delivery providers. Anything you do after clicking through to a provider falls under that provider's own privacy notice, not ours.
Where the data goes
Some of these partners operate outside the European Economic Area. When information reaches them, that transfer is covered by the safeguards they have in place, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your choices
If you are in the EU or EEA, you can ask to see, correct or delete the data relating to you, object to how it is used, and take back your agreement to analytics and advertising at any time — most easily through the cookie controls (see the cookie page) and your browser settings. You can also raise a concern with the data protection authority in your country.
Keeping this notice current
We will revise this notice when our practices change. The effective date at the top always points to the latest version.
